(LANSING) — Michigan Catholic Conference Vice President for Public Policy Paul A. Long today made the following statement praising the Michigan Legislature for passing common sense legislation that assures driver’s licenses will be available to those legally residing in Michigan:

“Both the House and Senate leadership must be congratulated and praised for passing common sense legislation that assures that non-resident, legally present individuals are able to drive about our state. The Conference’s pressing concern on this issue has been for those seminarians and foreign born priests that have come to Michigan to study and to serve the state’s Catholic community, as well as for those refugees who have legally entered our country in search of a life of dignity. We urge the governor to sign House Bill 4505 as quickly as possible.”
